League City Council News: Work on Palomino Lane

March 8, 2005

The League City Council will again consider "improvement and extension of roadway on Palomino Lane" when they meet on Tuesday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m.

The League City Council voted 4-3 against approving city services for High School #4 , including work on Palomino Lane, two weeks ago (February 22).

Palomino Lane will continue to be a hot topic. Work on Palomino will be discussed under new business (Item 13D). Residents are wondering what each council member will say as they "consider and take action on the approval of a Capital Improvement Project for the improvement and extension of roadway on Palomino Lane to a 4-lane concrete median lane separation to include internal drainage, roadway from the intersection of FM518 N to a future intersection with the proposed Beamer Road extension and the corresponding allocation of funds (Interim City Administrator)."

Item 6 on tonight's agenda is a time for relevant public comment. The time limit is five minutes.

Police Beat - RetroBill pictureRetro Bill will be speaking during a special D.A.R.E Family Night at the League City Civic Center on Wednesday March 30th at 7:00pm. D.A.R.E Family Night is free and open to the citizens of League City.

In March 2005, the League City Police Department D.A.R.E program will be presenting Retro Bill, the “Official D.A.R.E Safety Buddy” as a keynote speaker at all League City elementary and intermediate schools.

During the "live show" Retro Bill utilizes a variety of colorful props to drive home his uplifting messages of safety, self-esteem and character counts topics! The 1950s-styled, pompadour-haired powerhouse Retro Bill also encourages children (and adults too) to maintain a positive attitude, exercise and eat right (which includes drinking LOTS of water)! Retro Bill also encourages kids to do their homework and to participate in "positive alternatives" to bad things... like playing sports, being in a school play, or learning to play a musical instrument. Retro Bill's motto to children and parents is “What goes around comes around!”

Retro Bill will be visiting students of League City elementary and intermediate schools during the week of March 28th to April 1st. In addition to the school visitations, Retro Bill will be speaking during a special D.A.R.E Family Night at the League City Civic Center on Wednesday March 30th at 7:00pm.
