Police raise money for drug abuse resistance education program in area schools

March 17, 2006

The League City Police Department will be hosting the 7th Annual Saul Balderas Memorial Golf Tournament which will be held at The South Shore Harbour Country Club on March 20, 2006.

Tee off is at 8:00am. The Golf Tournament has been the major fundraiser for our D.A.R.E. Program. With the help of the community and local businesses, this program will continue to be beneficial to our community and children.

The League City Police Department began the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program in August 1990, and over the past sixteen years, our D.A.R.E. officers have been involved with and taught over 32,000 students in the Clear Creek Independent School District.

The D.A.R.E. Program has provided not only educational needs for parents, children and schools in our community, but has also served as a wonderful tool for other community-based resources.
