CCISD News - June and July 2005CCHS Opens Doors to PortablesBy Clear Creek Independent School District LEAGUE CITY, Texas—Clear Creek High School invites the Clear Creek Independent School District community to a tour of the new temporary classrooms. The Open House is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 2. The purpose of the event is to allow parents the opportunity to tour our facilities as the campus prepares for the beginning of school. Staff members will lead tours through the new school facilities. The tours start at the portables closest to the main office. Source: CCISD PR-2187 July 20, 2005 Creekside Students Send Gift of Fun to SoldiersBy Clear Creek Independent School District LEAGUE CITY, Texas— Students in Teen Leadership at Creekside Intermediate created a program called MED Ops, short for Military Entertainment Drive. The goal of MED Ops was to collect used and new DVD's, CD's, X-Box, and Play Station 2 games for U.S. soldiers stationed at Camp Arjifan, located in Kuwait. The Teen Leadership participants collected 704 discs to send to the soldiers in Kuwait, filling 16 boxes. The students received a letter of gratitude from the Officer in Charge of the Nurse-Corps at Camp Patriot along with a camo banner with the mission logo and the school's name embroidered on it. Journalism students at Clear Creek High School, along with former classmate June Liu, CCHS class of 2004, recently collected nearly 1,000 pairs of shoes to send to Kenya with the help of the Family Service Center of Galveston. The shoes previously had been a display in Galveston, Chamber and Liberty Counties to educate the community about the prevalence of child abuse in their community. Photo update credit: CCISD Hayes Named Region IV Principal of the YearBy Clear Creek Independent School District LEAGUE CITY, Texas—Dr. Fred Hayes, principal of Clear Creek High School, has been named Region IV Principal of the Year. He is the first Clear Creek High principal to win this award. Hayes is now in the running for Principal of the Year for the state of Texas. This is the end of Hayes’ second year at CCHS, which is one of the largest high schools in the state of Texas. Photo update credit: CCISD CCISD Hires New Director of FacilitiesBy Clear Creek Independent School District LEAGUE CITY, Texas—The Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees announced that Russell Wallace will take the reigns as the Clear Creek ISD Director of Facilities during the June 14 special board meeting. Wallace comes to Clear Creek ISD from the University of Houston System where he was the Director of Capital Design and Construction.
