Nature Center Wildflowers

July 26, 2007

Gardening: Nature Center Habitat Garden by Marilyn Clark image Wildflowers and the butterflies that sip their nectar delight visitors to the Armand Bayou Nature Center Habitat Garden in front of the admissions building. Flowers common to gardens of the “Old South” are found in the farmhouse garden.

Hikers enjoy the Nature Center's Lady Bird, Karankawa, Martyn, prairie and marsh trails. The Lady Bird trail is named after Lady Bird Johnson. It features a short hike through a forest and then along the edge of a prairie and this forest.

Armand Bayou Nature Center is open from 9 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Nature Center is located at 8500 Bay Area Boulevard (281-474-2551).
