AUSTIN, Texas—Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott today announced his Fugitive Unit has arrested 14 convicted child sex predators in a sting operation, bringing the unit’s total arrests to 200. The roundup was conducted primarily in Harris County.

“The harm child predators do to young Texans makes all our communities unsafe,” Attorney General Abbott said. “I am committed to getting these convicted sex offenders off the streets, and I am pleased my Fugitive Unit has put 200 of them back behind bars.”

In 1994, White was sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted in Harris County on two counts of indecency with child by sexual contact. The victims were a 5-year-old female and a 7-year-old female. She is currently in the Harris County Jail.

Other child sex offenders arrested in the roundup were:

• Eric Samuel Gomez, 46, arrested June 24 in Bexar County

• Walter D. Grove, 49, arrested June 24 in Harris County

• Wayne Douglas Graves, 46, arrested, June 23 in Harris County

• Kent Bernard Rance, 46, arrested June 23 in Harris County

• Alvin Eugene Johnson, 48, arrested June 22 in Harris County

• Clyde Wright, 49, arrested June 21 in Harris County

• Nathaniel Eugene McQueen, 46, arrested June 21 in Harris County

• Degrattenr Parquet Lathan, 35, arrested June 21 in Harris County

• Roy Thompson, 53, arrested June 21 in Harris County

• Alton Eugene Hill, 45, arrested June 21 in Harris County

• Willie Williams, 41, arrested June 20 in Harris County

• Darrell Ray Adkins, 44, arrested June 17 in Tipton County, Indiana

• Walter Eugene McDonald, 38, arrested June 15 in Harris County

Attorney General Abbott has made pursuing sexual predators a top priority in his administration. He created the Fugitive Unit in 2003 to pinpoint and arrest convicted child sex offenders who have violated their parole and could be stalking children.

Abbott also established the Cyber Crimes Unit in 2003 to track down child predators on the Internet. Cyber Crimes Unit investigators assume the identity of underage teens in Internet chat rooms, which often leads to child predators soliciting them for sex and then attempting to meet them. To date, the unit has netted 59 arrests.
