The Law of Forward Motion

It takes a lot of energy to get some things moving, as is illustrated by the steamboat and, today, the Space Shuttle. The hardest part of anything is getting started; however, it takes less energy to maintain motion than to initiate it. The automobile transmission is designed with this in mind.

Getting started is the hardest thing in some areas of our lives: tackling a difficult job, doing homework, getting up in the morning, starting back to Church.

When I ask people why they do not come to church anymore the answer given most often is “I got out of the habit.” This is another way of admitting the loss of momentum.

Habits are those things in our lives where momentum has been initiated and is more easily maintained…for good or for ill. I have heard it said that repeating a thing three times incubates a habit.

Go to church three times in a row and regain positive momentum for your life.

Meeting the challenge of initiating and maintaining positive momentum is essential to success in life.
