League City News - League City Methodist Church Picture As featured in a recent national magazine, autism is still on the rise all over the world. This devastating disease robs children of their ability to communicate, and can happen with lightening speed. Due to an increasing interest in combating autism, League City United Methodist Church has scheduled a conference to address the issue, and invited leading expert Dr. Arturo Volpe to share his research and knowledge. “This is another example of how our church is working to address the needs of our community,” states LCUMC staff Dell Tamblyn. “This is a hugely important issue to a lot of people, and we want to help in any way we can.”

The conference is scheduled on Sunday, April 10th, from 1:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Dr. Volpe will be sharing the do’s and don’ts of the DAN! Protocol. The DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) protocol was developed by the Autism Research Institute under the guidance of Dr. Bernard Rimland, and has received very positive results.

Also speaking at the conference is a parent of twin autistic sons, and the VP of the Autism Society of America, Jeff Snell. Physicians, therapists, special education teachers, parents, family and friends of children with an ASD (Austism Spectrum Disorder) diagnosis, and anyone else interested in learning more about this disease are all encouraged to attend.

To register or for more information, contact Dell Tamblyn at dell@lcumc.org . There is no charge to attend, but registration is required.

League City United Methodist Church is located at 1411 Main Street (FM 518), one block east of Interstate 45. For information, call the church offices at 281-332-1557 or visit the website at
