Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education Lynne Cleveland describes a small learning community as a community or team of students and teachers that work together within a large school. By Marilyn Clark, League City Area News Online April 16, 2004Trustee David Juengel, Chief Financial Officer of Money Management International, said that his business has over 90,000 clients. He spoke of a need for increased financial literacy. He stated that students need more training in math basics for life such as balancing checkbooks. He thinks that the SUMMIT advisory curriculum and small learning communities (teams) like the Computer, Marketing and Business Academy could help students develop skills that would help them succeed in life and the business world. The CCISD school board approved a salary increase for teachers, the purchase of 65 new school buses and criteria for contractor selection for construction projects at its March 23 meeting.

By Marilyn Clark, League City Area News Online March 8, 2004The Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) selected PBK architects to design security systems for all secondary schools and gave PBK approval to bid the District Stadium Rebuild at the February 24 Board meeting. The Board also commissioned SBWV architects to bid and manage a new teacher’s parking lot for Clear Lake High School. The teacher’s parking lot that both students and teachers have shared this school year will become a student parking lot.
