HOUSTON, September 2, 2005—University of Houston-Clear Lake welcomes displaced students enrolled at universities in Louisiana unable to open because of Hurricane Katrina.

UH-Clear Lake and other University of Houston System universities are joining several higher education institutions throughout Texas that received approval from the Texas Coordinating Board of Higher Education to provide services to displaced university students.

Applications for enrollment at UH-Clear Lake must be submitted no later than 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7. Office hours for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Student Assistance Center and Admissions office are 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. The university is waiving its application fee, accepting students at in-state tuition rates, and offering short-term student loans.

Student Assistance Center staff members or enrollment management counselors will assist students throughout the entire process of applying for admission, reviewing class schedules, and enrolling in the coursework that best meets the students' needs.

Limited housing accommodations for enrolled students are available at discounted rates at the University Forest Apartments, a privately owned complex located on the campus at UH-Clear Lake.
