HOUSTON–The 2006 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo opens at Reliant Park with the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, Feb. 23-25. The Downtown Rodeo Parade and ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run will be held in downtown Houston Saturday, Feb. 25.

All daily attractions at Reliant Park open at 8 a.m., beginning Tuesday, Feb. 28, and conclude on Sunday, March 19. Rodeo ticket prices range from $16 to $77, plus a Ticketmaster convenience charge, and include entrance into Reliant Stadium, Reliant Center, Reliant Arena, The Hideout (for those ages 21 years and older), outdoor activities and booths, and the carnival. Chute Seat packages are available for $300 per seat per performance for front row, or $200 per seat per performance for second row. Ticketmaster locations include Foley’s, Fiesta, select FYE stores and Wherehouse Music. On the opening day of ticket sales, Saturday, Jan. 14, there is a 10-ticket limit for the rodeo performances featuring George Strait on Feb. 28, Toby Keith on March 8, and Hilary Duff on March 16.

Most Ticketmaster locations in the Houston area will be distributing linestubs beginning at 9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 14. Drawings will be held at each of the locations at approximately 9:30 a.m. to determine the linestub number which will start the line for ticket purchases at these locations.

At all ticket locations, linestubs will be available only to persons ages 12 and older, and each person will receive only one linestub. Linestubs that have been tampered with will not be honored. Ticket buyers should be aware that the only Show-authorized ticket outlets are Ticketmaster outlets.

Ticketmaster also will be selling World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest tickets. VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express cards will be accepted online or by phone at 713.629.3700.

RODEO METRO EXPRESS/PARKING

The Rodeo METRO Express will provide transportation for Show visitors from seven shuttle locations throughout Houston. Round-trip transportation on the shuttle is $4 for riders ages 13 and older, $2 for those ages 3 to 12, and free for those ages 2 and younger. The Rodeo METRO Express is sponsored by Ford.

From the northwest, riders can catch the shuttles at Delmar Stadium and METRO North Shepherd Park and Ride. In the southeast, the METRO Monroe Park and Ride serves as a pick-up and drop-off location. The Aramco Services Company at 9009 West Loop South, and METRO West Loop Park and Ride will serve patrons on the southwest side. Centrally located, the Reed Road HLS&R Park and Ride will offer longer hours of operation than the other locations. The Texas Medical Center Smithlands location at North Stadium Drive will once again be available. Each lot is serviced by METRO lift buses.

Rodeo METRO Express service will be available for the public to the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest Feb. 24 – 25. The Reed Road HLS&R lot will run from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. both days. All other lots will run from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, and from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. The last in-bound bus at all locations during the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest will depart for Reliant Park at 9:30 p.m. each evening.

Daily shuttle service to and from Reliant Park will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The Reed Road HLS&R lot will have continuous shuttle service from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. All other lots will operate from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., Monday through Thursday; 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays; 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Sundays.

Limited parking is available at Reliant Park Main Street lots during the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, Feb. 23 – 25. During the run of the Show, Feb. 28 – March 19, parking is available at the Reliant Park Main Street lots and South Kirby lot. METRORail also stops at Reliant Park for an easy ride from downtown or the nearby parking lots.

SECURITY

Because of the nature of the event, there will be no restriction on backpacks, purses and other bags, but for increased security, everyone entering Reliant Park, and/or their possessions, may be subject to search. Anyone refusing to be searched will be denied access. No alcohol, guns, knives, food or drink will be allowed to be brought onto the grounds. Food and drink may not be carried in to Reliant Stadium. No videotaping is allowed.
