Police Beat: Blue Santa program

The League City Blue Santa Program is gearing up for the holidays. The program gives toys and bikes to children in the community that may not otherwise receive anything for Christmas. The Blue Santa Program is coordinated by the Community Services Officers of the League City Police Department. They are assisted by volunteers from the Vehicle Maintenance Department, Police Department, E.M.S., Fire Department and the community. The program also provides gift certificates to families so they may buy food from a local grocery store. In 2004, we provided gifts to over 176 families and over 475 children. We currently provide toys for children from infant to 14 years of age.

Blue Santa will begin delivering gifts to the children starting on December 15th thru the 17th beginning at 5:30 pm. You may register at the League City Police Department, 500 W. Walker, League City until December 12th. The program is currently in need of gifts for children ages 0 to 2, 10 to 14, and cash donations for gift certificates.
