Religion: A Pastor Ponders

League City Methodist Church announces Advent schedule

By Pastor William Jenkins

December 7, 2006

League City News - Jenkins PictureAs everyone’s schedules shift into high gear and we draw closer to the Christmas season, it’s time to start making arrangements for church activities. League City Methodist Church is once again offering a series of activities to encourage its congregation and the public to get involved in a variety of ways, and to celebrate the season.

League City Methodist’s Advent Season kicks off with the traditional “Hanging of the Greens” on December 3rd at 6 pm in the church Sanctuary.

LCUMC also offers a unique Advent festival for children on December 10th at 6 pm.

If caroling is your interest, you’re invited to join members of the LCUMC congregation on December 17th as they go caroling to those in our community that are homebound (and a great singing voice is NOT required!).

To prepare for the Advent season, Loretta Jenkins will be offering a four week Advent study on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am at the church.

On Dec. 24, there will be a variety of Christmas Eve services to chose from, beginning with both a traditional and a contemporary service at 11:00 am. That evening, there will be a children’s worship service at 5 pm, followed by two traditional candlelight services at
7 pm and again at 9 pm.

“We would be honored to share our Christmas Eve services with anyone and everyone in our community and beyond,” insists LCUMC’s Senior Pastor, Rev. Bill Jenkins.

League City United Methodist Church is located at 1411 Main Street (FM 518), one block east of Interstate 45. For information, call the church offices at 281-332-1557 or visit the website at
